Whiz Kids

Whiz Kids is coming to MHUMC again this fall and we need YOU! Help children right here in our community become better readers and share the LOVE of Jesus with them! We will be working with 3rd through 5th grade students from Monfort Heights Elementary. Whiz Kids is a literacy-based, one-to-one tutoring and mentoring program founded locally in 2005 by CityCURE. Since starting our program in 2008, we have partnered with Monfort Heights Elementary teachers and administrators to help offer guidance and mentorship to students who need help in becoming better readers. We provide trained volunteers to help children learn to become better readers and to learn many great life lessons from a caring Christian role model. Starting in early October, tutoring will take place on Tuesday afternoons from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at the Monfort Heights United Methodist Church.

ONLY REQUIREMENTS to be a Tutor/Mentor:

•  Be a caring and loving Christian
•  Must be at least 16 years of age
•  2 hours of training
